No moulds. No two beams are exactly the same.
An exposed or boxed-in RSJ doesn't have to be something you try to hide.
We can create a bespoke faux wood beam around an existing RSJ or structural steel beam, sculpting and colouring it by hand to make the steel look like a real wooden beam.
Because each beam is created onsite, the size, shape, texture and finish can be designed around the existing structure and the surrounding space. The result is not simply a cover, but a beam made to look as though it belongs in the room.
RSJs are often boxed in with plasterboard, painted to blend into the ceiling or covered with timber. These can all be practical solutions, but if the aim is to make the steel look like an original wooden beam, they can come with limitations. Real timber cladding needs to work around the dimensions and shape of the existing steel, while pre-made beam covers are restricted by set sizes, profiles and repeating textures.
Because we build and sculpt each beam onsite, we're not working to a standard mould or predetermined size. The beam can be created around what's already there and finished to suit the character of the room.

FROM IDEA TO FINISHED BEAM
Every project starts with a conversation. Send us a few photos of your space, along with the approximate length, width and depth of the beams you’d like to create or cover. From there, we can arrange a phone or video call to talk through the project, the look you want to achieve and the options for your space. We can also send a quote based on the measurements.
Once onsite, we build each beam specifically for the property. The structure is created to the required dimensions before our specialist plaster is applied and shaped by hand.
The final stage is colour and ageing. Each beam is finished by hand to achieve the right tone and character for the property. Where existing timber is already present, we can work towards a close colour match so the new beams sit naturally alongside it.
Everything is created onsite, from the initial structure to the final finish. No moulds. No prefabricated beams.
This means each faux beam can be designed around the room itself — whether we're adding character to a plain ceiling, working with a vaulted space or transforming an existing RSJ, concrete beam or structural steel into something that looks and feels like aged timber.
